Reigning Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi led the field in first practice ahead of this weekend's Marrakesh ePrix for Audi Sport Abt Shaeffler.
The Brazilian driver set a best lap time of a 1:20.310 which put him 0.914 seconds ahead of Jerome d'Ambrosio who was his nearest challenger and the only other driver in the field to run on full 200kW power in the session for Dragon Racing.
Di Grassi's teammate, Daniel Abt, showed that the Audi team has pace around the Circuit Moulay El Hassan by setting the third fastest lap of the session using 180kW of power, almost 1.3 seconds adrift of his teammate.
Mitch Evan's continued to show that Jaguar Racing has pace over the course of one lap this season by ending the session in fourth place, 0.020 seconds ahead of Renault e.dams' Sebastien Buemi who finished the session in fifth.
Sam Bird was the fastest DS Virgin driver in sixth place, lapping faster than Jean-Eric Vergne who was seventh fastest for Techeetah while season one champion Nelson Piquet Jr was eighth fastest in the second Jaguar after clipping the wall in the session.
Mahindra Racing's Felix Rosenqvist finished the session in ninth place while Britain's Oliver Turvey rounded out the top ten for NIO Formula E.
Hong Kong's race two runner-up Edoardo Mortara ended first practice in last place for Venturi after recovering from an early session spin and a subsequent battery shutdown later in the session.
On the other side of the Venturi garage, Maro Engel also ran into trouble and stopped multiple times out on track while Andre Lotterer ran into similar problems in the second Techeetah.
