Venturi Formula E has confirmed that Morocco's Michael Benyahia will drive for the team during the series' rookie test on January 14 after the third round of the 2017-2018 season in Marrakesh.
Benyahia is the reigning Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup champion and holds six podiums in the French F4 Championship as well as 46 karting wins at the age of 17.
"I’m well aware of the chance I’m being given," said Benyahia. "The Formula E championship is growing exponentially. As a result, it’s rare to get a drive. I’ll do everything I can, to repay the faith that Gildo Pastor and his teams have placed in me.”
Benyahia has been part of Venturi for a total of three months and his test in Marrakesh will mark his third time behind the wheel of one of the all-electric single seater machines, having taken part in a street demonstration ahead of the 2016 Marrakesh ePrix and joining the Monaco-based team for pre-season testing in Valencia.
“I am delighted to offer Michaël Benyahia the opportunity to drive again, and at home too," said Gildo Pastor, Venturi's President. "This decision reflects my commitment to supporting Michaël in his career development.”
