Formula E's Sao Paulo debut has been postponed to Season 5 (2018/19) following a request from local authorities.
The Brazilian round had been included on the confirmed 2017/18 calendar as one of four new venues alongside Rome, Zurich and Santiago.
However with authorities in the process of selling the Anhembi Park venue, a request to delay its debut until next season has been granted.
"The Sao Paulo city authorities have asked us to postpone the race to season five, due to an ongoing process of privatisation of the Anhembi Park venue,” a series spokesperson confirmed.
"Racing in city centers always poses challenges and as this process is taking longer than expected, in agreement with the city of Sao Paulo, we’ve decided to place negotiations on stand-by until the privatisation process is complete."
Formula E boasts two Brazilian drivers in former champion Nelson Piquet and reigning champion Lucas di Grassi.
Season 4 starts this weekend in Hong Kong with a double-header on Saturday and Sunday.
