Nissan is to replace Renault at the e.dams outfit for the fifth season of Formula E in 2018/19.

Nissan confirmed on Wednesday that it would join the championship in 2018/19, when a new chassis and a revised battery system are used, and the marque will take the place of Renault.

Nissan and Renault, which has won the Teams' title in all three seasons, have held a strategic alliance for several years and the manufacturers will ensure that there is a smooth transition with the e.dams outfit.

"To have a name like Nissan coming on board is a momentous day for the series," said Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag.
