Andre Lotterer will make his Audi Motorsport return at this weekend's Spa 24 Hours, with the 35-year-old standing in for Will Stevens.
Lotterer will race the customer team #5 Audi Sport Team WRT car alongside Dries Vanthoor and Marcel Fassler, which makes up one of five Audi R8 LMS entries, with a total of ten Audi's in the 64-car field.
The German originally joined Audi in 2010 as a factory driver where he took three overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans before Audi terminated its LMP1 project. Lotterer then moved to Porsche to join its LMP1 team.
"It’s a nice surprise and I am very happy," he is quoted as saying by Sportscar365. "When Vincent [Vosse] called me to check if the challenge could interest me, the answer has been immediate!
"To be in a lineup that aims at winning the Spa 24 Hours, and to be part of Team WRT and the Belgian Audi Club, is an offer you cannot refuse.
"On top, I will be again associated with my friend Marcel Fassler, and Benoit Treluyer will also be in the team, although on another car.
"I am very motivated and want to thank Porsche, my employer, for giving its go-ahead to this one-off with for a sister brand of the Volkswagen family."
