Ricky Taylor gave the Cadillac DPi-V.R its fifth pole position of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Driving the Wayne Taylor Racing-prepared car, Taylor reeled off a time of 1:08.459s to secure the top spot for round seven of the North American series.
Brothers Ricky and Jordan Tyalor are aiming to return to winning ways this weekend after relinquishing its five-race victory streak at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen.
Second quickest in the 15-minute shootout was the car that finished second at The Glen last week – the JDC-Miller Motorsports ORECA-Gibson LMP2, with Misha Goikhberg behind the wheel.
Goikhberg burst onto the scene with two minutes remaining, putting in a time of 1:08.587s that fell just over a tenth shy of pole position.
The ORECA will start ahead of the two Extreme Speed Motorsports-entered Nissan-Onroak DPis, qualified by Scott Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek respectively.
Jonathan Bomarito completed the top five in his Mazda DPi, while the Watkins Glen-winning Action Express Cadillac DPi ended up sixth.
The pace of the Prototype field at CTMP was telling, as all cars finished within a 1.5 second bracket and comfortably below the pole position time from 2016.
Furthermore, Taylor's pole effort was just 4.3 seconds off the outright lap record at the 2.45 mile circuit, set by an Audi LMP1 car in 2008.

In the GT Le Mans category, Dirk Werner gave the new Porsche 911 RSR its maiden pole position with a time of 1:14.085s.
Werner was the first driver to set a flying lap, and kept reducing his benchmark throughout the session to preserve his lead and secure the top spot.
The Porsches held a provisional one-two with five minutes remaining, but a quick lap from Bill Auberlen's BMW M6 bumped the sister 911 of Laurens Vanthoor down to third.
Auberlen almost demoted both Porsches with his final attempt, but the #25 BMW fell just 0.018 seconds short.
Vanthoor will share the second row with the other BMW driven by Martin Tomczyk, with the pairs of Fords and Corvettes completing the class order.
The GT Daytona category continued its streak of having a different pole sitter at every race as Sage Karam gave Lexus its maiden IMSA front-spot start.
So far in 2017, Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, Acura and Lexus have all taken turns to lead the field away.
Karam's Lexus was the manufacturer's only car in qualifying, after Jack Hawksworth escaped injury in a violent shunt for the sister RCF-GT3 during Saturday morning practice.
Pole in the Prototype Challenge category went to James French in the points-leading Performance Tech Motorsports ORECA.
The 2 hour 40 minute race is set to get underway tomorrow (Sunday, July 9th) at 12:05 local time (UTC-5).
