Sauber Team Manager Beat Zehnder says the squad is still in discussions with “several candidates” over the vacant role of Team Principal.
Monisha Kaltenborn departed the company in the build-up to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix due to “diverging views” regarding the direction of the Swiss outfit.
Sauber also confirmed that Kaltenborn’s successor would be announced “shortly” but over two weeks have passed and the position remains vacant.
In the absence of a Team Principal, Zehnder and Technical Director Jörg Zander have assumed running of the outfit at Grand Prix weekends.
Zehnder confirmed in Austria that discussions are ongoing with a handful of people.
“I cannot tell you as we are still in talks with several candidates and as soon as we have something to announce we will,” Zehnder said when asked about a potential time frame.
Zehnder also dismissed suggestions that the absence of a Team Principal is having a negative influence on the operation.
“We have to be realistic, it’s only two weeks since Monisha is not with us anymore, so everything is still under control,” he said.
“Maybe if we haven’t got a Team Principal in the next half year then it might be a problem but at the moment everything is running smooth, everything is in order.”
Sauber holds ninth in the Constructors' Championship, having scored five points this season.
