Extreme Speed Motorsports ended the first day of practice for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen with the two quickest times overall.
Pipo Derani and Bruno Senna led a one-two for the team, with Derani's time of 1:34.696s leapfrogging the morning benchmark set by JDC-Miller Motorsports driver Stephen Simpson by 0.795 seconds.
The 21-year-old Brazilian was recently confirmed for the remainder of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship season, following the retirement of team owner/driver Ed Brown from prototype competition.
Derani will share the No. 2 Nissan with Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel during this weekend's endurance round.
RESULT: 6 Hours of Watkins Glen FP2
Combined Friday practice results
Pedalling the No. 22 ESM car, Senna sealed a promising early result for the ESM crew with a time of 1:35.293s.
That was enough to put the ex-Formula 1 driver just under a tenth of a second under Olivier Pla in the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports-run Ligier JSP217.
Ricky Taylor turned in the fourth quickest run behind the wheel of the championship-leading Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi, which he shares with brother Jordan.
The Taylor brothers have won all five IMSA WTSCC races so far this season, including the Daytona and Sebring enduros.
Rounding out the top five during FP2 was Chris Miller in the JDC-Miller Motorsports ORECA LMP2, although in terms of overall times Miller's effort was slower than that recorded by team-mate Simpson earlier in the day.
In GT Le Mans, another one-two played out with the pair of Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs lapping quickest around the 3.4 mile circuit.

Dirk Muller set a 1:43.078s marker during the morning run that stood through the second session to remain the fastest lap in class.
Muller survived at the top of the timesheets with fellow Ford driver Richard Westbrook only mustering a 1:43.226 in the sister car.
Interestingly, Muller's team-mate Joey Hand produced the second-fastest time of any GT competitor, putting both No. 66 Ford drivers ahead of the field.
The quickest non-Ford entry was the No. 3 Corvette C7.R driven by Antonio Garcia, which ended the day on a 1:43.283.
Fastest in Prototype Challenge was Performance Tech Motorsports' Patricio O'Ward, who improved on his table-topping time from the morning.
A similar scenario occurred in GT Daytona, as the No. 93 Acura improved on its initial benchmark, although the advance came courtesy of Katherine Legge after Andy Lally put the Detroit-winning car ahead in the morning.
Qualifying for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen is set to take place tomorrow (Saturday, July 1st) at 11:40 am local time (EDT).
