Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton is in the "best place" mentally since joining Mercedes back in 2013, evidenced by the way he's coped with tough weekends this season.
Hamilton sits second in the championship standings, just 12 points off leader Sebastian Vettel, thanks to wins in China, Spain and Canada. Vettel has also won three races (Australia, Bahrain and Monaco), but had yet to finish lower than second until Canada when he just missed the podium in fourth.
Hamilton meanwhile has had some tough weekends, namely Russia and Monaco, where he finished fourth and seventh, but has hit back with wins at the races that followed, most notably the most recent event in Montreal.
Wolff believes that ability to bounce back and take a hard weekend on the chin shows Hamilton's mental strength this season is better than ever.
"Lewis is in the best place I have seen him during any of the last five years since he joined the team," said Wolff.
"Not only because he had a great weekend in Montreal – but because he is coping so well with the difficult days.
"This is what the very best are made of. When the fight gets tough, they get over it quickly and maximise their opportunities."
Wolff is also content with the way new recruit Valtteri Bottas is handling his first season with the team.
"Likewise, Valtteri is in a strong position," he added. "You would never think he joined the team very last minute over the winter and, after, seven Grands Prix, he has exceeded even our expectations.
"He's been on pole, won a race and challenged Lewis on both Saturday and Sundays. For him, it's now just about putting it all together every single weekend and I have no doubt he will do that."
