Michael Schumacher will be honoured by a 'Champions for Charity' football match in July, set to take place in Mainz, Germany.
The event, which was first held last year, sees sporting celebrities come together to raise money for charity. The 2016 football match attracted a crowd of 25,000 fans who saw the likes of Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel and F3 racer Mick Schumacher among stars from other sports.
This year the match will honour seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher – who sustained serious head injuries in a skiing-related accident in 2013 – by donating toward the Keep Fighting Initiative set up by his family and manager.
The event will also support the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation, with the German basketball player himself playing in the match.
"For me it is a matter of course that I am at Champions for Charity," commented Schumacher's son, Mick. "Last year's match I could hardly stop laughing and it is a good feeling to be able to support charitable initiatives.
"The combination of fun and meaning is perfect in my eyes. I am pleased that Dirk, all the other players and the fans in the stadium watching see it the same; And I'm looking forward to an entertaining game."
Already confirmed alongside Schumacher and Nowitzki are Mike Häkkinen and world cup winner Miroslav Klose.
