Fabian Vettel, the younger brother of four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian, will compete in the Audi Sport TT Cup in 2017.
The series is on the DTM support bill and was launched in 2015 to replace the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup.
Vettel started kart racing in Germany but will now move into sports cars with the Audi Sport TT Cup as one of the drivers confirmed so far.
Each round will also feature guest starters, with seven events on the 2017 calendar – including present and former F1 tracks such as the Hockenheimring and Red Bull Ring.
The Audi Sport TT Cup grid is largely made up of young drivers at the starts of their careers, with 15 confirmed so far from 10 different countries.
"We are delighted with the international diversity of this year's cohort,” series boss Philipp Mondelaers said.
"Our junior drivers have clearly stepped up throughout the introductory course."
18-year-old Vettel has attended F1 races in support of his brother but will now step up to car racing in 2017.
