Porsche has confirmed that Kevin Estre and Frederic Makowiecki will join its GTE Pro factory line-up for this year's FIA World Endurance Championship campaign.
Porsche will return to the GTE Pro class with a factory effort in 2017 after one year out, entering two mid-engined, naturally-aspirated 911 RSR models for the forthcoming campaign.
After already confirming 2015 GT champions Michael Christensen and Richard Lietz in race seats, Porsche announced on Thursday that factory drivers Estre and Makowiecki would be joining them for the 2017 season.
Estre will link up with Christensen for his first full season in the WEC, racing the #92 Porsche 911 RSR, while Makowiecki slots in alongside Lietz in the #91 entry.
"In the fight for the maiden GT World Championship title in the FIA WEC we’ve put together two strong driver pairings. And all four pilots come from the world’s best GT hotbed of talent, Porsche’s one-make race series,” head of Porsche motorsport Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser said.
The drivers will appear in the new car on April 1 at the pre-season WEC Prologue at Monza.
