Aprilia has become the latest manufacturer to reveal the colours it will be using in MotoGP during the 2017 season.
Run by the Gresini Racing outfit, its 2017 RS-GP bike was unveiled at the team’s official launch on Friday in Italy ahead of the new MotoGP campaign.
The team has an all-new rider line-up for the up-coming season, with Moto2 title contender Sam Lowes making the step up to MotoGP.
He is joined by Aleix Espargaró after the Spanish rider’s switch from Suzuki to Aprilia. Both riders were on hand to unveil the RS-GP’s colours.
Aprilia joined the MotoGP grid as a factory outfit in 2015 and made progress throughout the following season, and is looking to make further inroads on its rivals this year.
“First of all I’m happy to be part of a great racing family with a prestigious history such as Aprilia Racing,” said Lowes. “I can’t wait to get back on track in Qatar. I think in winter testing I’ve only shown 85% of our potential and in the first race I want to define a good base on which we can build step by step up to Valencia.”
Espargaró added: “It will certainly be a good season, we still have a lot to improve but we’ve definitely got off on the right foot. There is a big desire to progress, we have clear goals and to achieve them both the team and I will have to leave everything out on track. We just have to face the first race in Qatar and face down our rivals.”
