ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport Formula E driver Lucas di Grassi says Renault e.Dams has a clear advantage over the rest of the field, describing it as "impossible" to challenge for victory in Argentina.
Sébastien Buemi came from third on the grid in Saturday’s Buenos Aires ePrix to take his third victory of the season, becoming the first driver to score a hat-trick in the series.
Di Grassi lined up on pole position for the race after an eventful qualifying session, but was unable to hold onto the lead for long.
The Brazilian driver lost ground in the early stages, dropping to fifth amid struggles with his first car, before making up places after the pit stop to claim third.
“The difference to Renault is quite clear,” he said afterwards. “What we can do, we are trying to do, of course.
“In this championship, you can only do a big change year by year. We can improve the car but not massively. You have to homologate the drivetrain.
“We are working on the season four car already, and on season three we are doing everything we can to try and close the gap.
“Last year, Seb [Buemi] was also in this scenario but he was making mistakes. This year he hasn’t made any mistakes in the first three races.
“All I can do is fight to get the most points possible. One time they do mistakes or they lose their head, then we go for the win, but it was impossible to fight for the win.”
