Renault e.Dams driver Sébastien Buemi continued his triumphant run of Formula E success with victory at the Buenos Aires ePrix.
The Swiss driver put in a controlled performance, having started third and made his way up the order in the first half of the race.
He overtook rival Lucas di Grassi for second on the third lap, before making a move on race leader Jean-Éric Vergne at the first corner a few laps later.
Buemi extended his advantage through the pit stops and took control from then on, establishing a comfortable advantage.
He came home just under three seconds clear of Techeetah’s Vergne, scoring a hat-trick of victories in the 2016/2017 season and becoming the first to do so in Formula E.
Buenos Aires pole-sitter Di Grassi was in third place after an eventful ePrix that saw him lose positions early on and have a close call in the pits – the incident was investigated by the stewards but no action was taken.
Nicolas Prost looked in contention for a podium spot before falling behind di Grassi on lap 24, with Nelson Piquet Jr. coming home fifth for NextEV NIO.
Pitting one lap earlier helped elevate Loïc Duval to sixth, with Daniel Abt coming home seventh and Jérôme d'Ambrosio in eighth. The Dragon racer lost a few spots in the final stages, after a feisty battle with his team-mate.
Oliver Turvey spent the early part of the race at the front of the field and even looked on for a podium at one point, but he lost positions in the pits and couldn’t recover.
José María López was 10th in front of his home crowd, with Mitch Evans finishing in the points on the road but losing places due to a five-second time penalty for speeding under full course yellow.
Adam Carroll failed to get away from the grid and eventually got going, albeit well down on the field, while a pit stop problem dropped Felix Rosenqvist one lap down.
Maro Engel suffered problems early on and that put him well out of contention, while left-rear damage dropped Sam Bird back and he ended up retiring.
