Force India driver Sergio Pérez has thrown his support behind a campaign against United States President Donald Trump's plans to build a border wall between Mexico and the US.
On social media, the hashtag #BridgesNotWalls has been widely shared and the Mexican Grand Prix is now supporting the campaign as well as Pérez, with a banner across the circuit displaying the message.
Pérez took part in a photoshoot this week to further publicise the message.
"World class international events such as the Mexican GP provide an excellent opportunity to showcase to the world what the Mexican people are capable of achieving when we work together," he said.
"Through this unique global platform, Mexico has been shown as a warm and welcoming destination. The 2015 and 2016 races were award winning, 2017 promises to be even more memorable."
He added on Instagram: "Because all of us Mexicans are united, today and always! I invite you to join this great campaign."
The Force India driver previously dumped a personal sunglasses sponsor after they posted on social media that customers could use their range of sunglasses to hide their tears when the wall is constructed. The company later apologised, but Pérez stood firm on his decision to cut ties.
