Suzuki's Andrea Ianonne finished the second day of MotoGP testing at the Sepang International Circuit quickest, with a time of 1m59.452.
The Italian rider was more than four-tenths quicker than second-placed Maverick Viñales for Yamaha, whilst Aspar's Alvaro Bautista completed the top three which consisted of three different manufacturers.
The morning saw little running following Monday's rain, but come the afternoon the track had dried completely and riders started to set competitive times on the slick tyres.
The session saw a late red flag as Tito Rabat fell at Turn 7, forcing a 30-minute stoppage as the Marc VDS rider was taken to the medical centre before being transferred to a hospital in Putrajaya for further examination.
The Spaniard rider suffered a knee and wrist injury in the accident which means he will not take part in further testing this week.
With 30 minutes left on the clock when the green flag came out, the majority headed out to set some final flying laps with new tyres.
Héctor Barberá immediately went top, but was quickly demoted to sixth as several riders improved including Johann Zarco, Valentino Rossi and the top three of Bautista, Viñales and Iannone.
Andrea Dovizioso finished seventh quickest ahead of Ducati team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, Tech 3's Jonas Folger and reigning champion Marc Márquez.
Márquez endured some issues during the afternoon as an electrical problem brought him to a halt at Turn 12.
Testing continues at Sepang on Wednesday.
