The IndyCar series has announced a multi-year contract extension with chassis manufacturer Dallara through to the 2020 season.

The Italian company started working with IndyCar in 1997 and confirmed a new deal at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Dallara will continue to supply IndyCar with driver safety cells through to the 2020 season, with the up-coming campaign marking its 20-year anniversary in US-based single-seater racing.

“Dallara's continued participation in our sport provides IndyCar and our competitors a tremendous amount of confidence,” said IndyCar president of competition and operations, Jay Frye.

“Dallara has been an instrumental partner in the Verizon IndyCar Series for 20 years and we are excited to extend our relationship with them.”

Dallara president Giampaolo Dallara added: “The signature of this contract is a natural extension of an intensive working relationship that has been continuing since 1997.

“We are pleased to continue to contribute to the great success that this series deserves.”

The new 2017 IndyCar season begins in St/ Petersburg on the 12 March.
