Former Renault team principal Frederic Vasseur has explained the reasons behind his exit from the Enstone-based outfit.
His departure was announced on Wednesday, with Renault and Vasseur agreeing to part ways by "mutual consent".
He initially joined the team as racing director at the start of 2016 before moving onto the role of team principal during the season.
Now, following his exit, Vasseur has explained he did not have the same goals as the other chiefs within the team.
“We did not have exactly the same idea of management," Vasseur is quoted telling Motorsport Total.
“It is difficult to lead a Formula 1 team if you do not have the same goal and do not follow the same philosophy. I tried to convince everyone of my view, but I did not succeed, so it's better to leave.
“When I came to this project, I thought it would be for more than just a year.
“It's a little frustrating that I have to leave now, but it was my decision.”
Despite leaving the team, he feels happy with what he achieved at Renault: “We did a good job of reorganising, hiring new people and working at the circuit, and investing in the Enstone factory is also on the right track.
“But it will take several seasons to get Renault to the top.”
