The GP3 grid has started to take shape with the announcement of Kevin Joerg at Trident for the 2017 season.
The 21-year-old Swiss driver will remain in the GP3 series, switching from DAMS to Trident after showing flashes of speed in 2016.
During his time with DAMS, he scored two top five finishes and five further top 10 results. He returns to Trident, a team he tested with at the end of 2015 in GP3.
Following his stint karting, Joerg graduated to single-seaters in the Formula Abarth and Formula BMW championships, before stepping up to Formula Renault 2.0.
He finished third in the Eurocup series in 2015, alongside finishing runner-up in the NEC championship, and then moved up to GP3. Joerg will be looking to build on the progress made during last year’s maiden GP3 season.
“I'm extremely satisfied to announce that I will enter the upcoming GP3 series season with the Trident team,” he said.
“Working together with the Milan-based squad, the goal is to stay among the frontrunners and collect several podium finishes.
“I'm absolutely confident that Trident will provide me with all what it takes to reach all the goals I have set for myself. I can't wait to get back on-track with my new team.”
