Former Haas F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez has confirmed he will make his debut in the all-electric Formula E series in 2017.
Following two seasons at Sauber, Gutierrez was a Ferrari F1 test driver before returning to an F1 race seat in 2016 with Haas.
However, he failed to score a point and lost his drive to Kevin Magnussen for the up-coming F1 season.
Gutierrez announced at a press conference in Mexico City he will make his Formula E debut this year, contesting selected rounds.
He is analysing his options for a full-time Formula E switch in the 2017/2018 season, the fourth in the electric championship’s history, and has also become an official FE ambassador.
He will compete at the Mexico City ePrix and also, according to the Formula E website, the inaugural New York ePrix with more details to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The switch to Formula E comes after he was unable to secure a spot on the F1 grid for 2017.
It is unclear which Formula E team he will drive for this season. However, it is likely to be in place of a driver unable to compete due to a date clash with Formula E.
