Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has signed Oriol Servia for the 2017 Indianapolis 500, the team has announced.
There is the possibility of Servia making more outings for the RLL squad through the 2017 IndyCar season.
It will be the Spaniard’s ninth Indy 500 and fourth with the RLL team, following drives in 2009, 2014 and 2015.
His best finish at the Indy 500 so far has been fourth place with Dreyer & Reinbold in 2012, which followed his best starting position of third for Newman/Haas Racing in 2011.
Servia finished 12th in last year’s race. He has made 195 starts in CART, Champ Car and IndyCar since his rookie season in 2000.
Alongside Indy 500 starts, he also recently competed in Formula E, racing in the first four rounds of the all-electric championship in 2014 for Dragon Racing.
