European F3 driver Callum Ilott will take part in the GP2 post-season test for ART GP on December 1-2.

Ilott was this week confirmed as a Prema Powerteam driver for next season after an impressive 2016 campaign with Van Amersfoort Racing, with whom he finished sixth in the standings, scoring six podiums and two wins.

However, he will participate in the season-ending test for ART GP, who currently sit fourth in the teams' championship.

"The chance to test a GP2 car was something I just couldn't miss" said Ilott of the opportunity.

"It's a category I will be looking to for the future, so a chance to get some decent seat time is something I jumped at.

"With my plans in place for 2017 already, I can just enjoy the experience."

It will be the Briton's first taste of GP2 machinery, as well as the Yas Marina Circuit, two challenges he ianticipates.

“The GP2 car seems to be more physical to drive and it’s a lot quicker on the straights, so the chance for some more power is always welcome."

Ilott's new team for 2017, Prema, won the 2016 European F3 drivers' championship with Canadian Lance Stroll, taking a dominant 14 wins out of 30 races.

Prema will be looking to add another drivers' title to their trophy cabinet on Sunday, with with GP2 team mates Antonio Giovinazzi and Pierre Gasly separated by just three points going into the final two races.
