Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa says he is hoping to return to the MotoGP series at the 2016 season finale in Valencia, Spain.
He suffered a fractured collarbone and right fibula after crashing out of practice for the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi.
Test rider Hiroshi Aoyama replaced him in Japan and Malaysia alongside full-time rider Marc Marquez.
His place was filled in Australia by former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden. Pedrosa says he is working towards a return in Valencia and is hopeful, but remains unsure as to whether he will race.
“I'm getting better with every day that goes by,” he explained in a blog for Repsol.
“Physical therapy is going well, and at this time all I can think about is racing once again.
“I'm working hard with my mind set on recovering in time for Valencia, but I'm still not entirely sure whether it will be possible as I will know next week.”
