Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will take part in Pirell's latest 2017 tyre development test scheduled for next week, Mercedes has confirmed.
The pairing will have a days running each at Spain's Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona circuit, driving the Mercedes mule car, which has been modified to simulate next year's expected downforce levels.
Pirelli recently expressed a desire to see experienced drivers testing the tyres to ensure the feedback is accurate.
Up until now, Mercedes have used Manor's Pascal Wehrlein, whilst Red Bull ran with Sebastien Buemi. Only Ferrari have used their current race drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
However Mercedes have confirmed that Hamilton will drive on Wednesday and Rosberg on Thursday.
Meanwhile Red Bull, which is also set to test the latest specification of tyre at Abu Dhabi next week (Friday to Sunday) has yet to confirm its driver line-up.
