Mark Webber took to the streets of central London this morning at the wheel of his Porsche 919 Hybrid.
The Australian passed iconic landmarks like Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Big Ben as he drove from Park Lane to South Bank.
The Porsche 919 Hybrid has claimed two Le Mans victories, 12 FIA WEC wins and two championships – the drivers’ and constructors’ in 2015 – so far in the series.
Webber’s run in London with the LMP1 prototype took place between 6am and 7am, taking to the streets with rush-hour traffic (helped by a police escort).
The WEC car was accompanied by the new Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid, which is also powered by a combustion engine and hybrid electric motor.
It proved trickier than a typical demo run, due to cooling concerns with the car running so slowly around the city streets.
The next round of the WEC takes place at the Fuji circuit in Japan on the 16 October, with Porsche looking for a fourth consecutive win.
