Nico Rosberg eases to Singapore pole as Daniel Ricciardo snatches second

Nico Rosberg will start the Singapore Grand Prix from pole position after outqualifying the field by some margin, whilst favourites Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen will start second and fourth.

The Red Bulls were split by the second Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. The Briton could only manage third as he looked to struggle around the Marina Bay circuit, particularly during Q3 with two scrappy laps.

He finished seven-tenths down on Rosberg's best time, whilst Ricciardo was half a second behind.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen starts fifth, whilst the sister car of Sebastian Vettel starts last, having suffered an anti-roll bar failure during the Q1, which the team were unable to repair in time.

Toro Rosso were "best of the rest" behind the top three teams with Carlos Sainz sixth ahead of team-mate Daniil Kvyat in seventh.

Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez completed the top ten.

Both Williams failed to escape Q2 and start P11 and P12, whilst McLaren's Jenson Button looked set to jump into the top ten, before he swiped the barrier and suffered a left-rear puncture.

That came just as Haas' Romain Grosjean span into the barrier, ending the session and delaying Q3 by ten minutes as essential barrier repairs took place.

Sauber's Marcus Ericsson escaped Q1 for the first time since the Chinese GP, but failed to improve on P16.

The Manor's were slowest bar Vettel's limping Ferrari.
