Tom Kristensen will make his 15th appearance at the Race of Champions in Miami next January, racing alongside Petter Solberg in Team Nordic.

Nine-time Le Mans winner Kristensen made his Race of Champions debut back in 2001, winning the Nations Cup twice and finishing as runner-up in the individual event on four occasions.

After narrowly losing out to four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel in the London final last year, Kristensen will now return to the Race of Champions on January 21-22 at the Miami Marlins Park.

"I may have ‘officially’ retired from competitive racing, but I’ve been coming to the Race Of Champions for so long I still count it as the exception to the rule," Kristensen said.

"ROC is a very special event and I am always very honoured to take part. I've been pretty competitive by winning the ROC Nations Cup twice and making it to the Grand Final four times. It is a lot of fun to race against the young guns – especially when you're lucky to give them a lesson.

“Even though my time at ROC has been partially successful, I’m still waiting to take home the individual trophy so maybe I can finally rectify that in Miami.

"The challenge is to race against top drivers from a wide range of motor sport series, but besides the racing it is a lovely event with lovely people. It’s always a great weekend and we also enjoy meeting up with race fans from all over the world.

"Most of all I hope we can give the crowds in Miami a show to remember.”

Solberg will partner Kristensen once again after their run to semi-final of the Nations Cup last year, the World RX and former WRC driver also having won the ROC Skills Challenge in London.

Kristensen and Solberg join Vettel, IndyCar's Ryan Hunter-Reay and NASCAR driver Kurt Busch on the roster for the 2017 event, as well as action sports star Travis Pastrana.
