Ducati test rider Michele Pirro and Yamaha test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga are set to race wildcard entries in the MotoGP.
Pirro will ride for Ducati at this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix at Misano, while Nakasuga will make a wildcard appearance at the Japanese Grand Prix next month.
Racing at Misano will be Pirro’s seventh time competing in MotoGP this season, having finished 10th at Mugello and 12th in Austria with Ducati and filled in for riders at Pramac and Avintia.
He has so far collected 23 points from the seven races he has competed in, with a best finish of eighth at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.
Meanwhile Nakasuga will ride for Yamaha at the team’s home event in Japan next month alongside Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.
He has raced six times in the MotoGP series so far in his career, with a best result of second at the Valencia finale in 2012.
Nakasuga’s appearance for Yamaha will be his fifth in a row at the Motegi track. He finished eighth in the race last year.
He currently competes in the premier JSB1000 class of the All Japan Race Championship and is on a 10-race winning streak, as he goes for a seventh overall title.
