Jean-Eric Vergne retained the top spot on the timesheets for the new Techeetah team on day two of the second 2016/2017 Formula E test.
The Frenchman lowered the Formula E lap record at Donington Park with the Renault customer team, which led the factory outfit on the penultimate day of pre-season running.
He bounced back from a crash in the morning – which brought out the red flags – to set the pace in with a late 1m29.196.
He finished two tenths ahead of Renault e.dams driver Sebastien Buemi, who led the way after the morning session.
Lucas di Grassi was third for Abt Audi Sport, ahead of Buemi’s team-mate Nicolas Prost and Daniel Abt. Nick Heidfeld was next up.
Jose Maria Lopez was seventh quickest for DS Virgin Racing, ahead of team-mate Sam Bird, NEXTEV’s Oliver Turvey and Dragon Racing’s Loic Duval.
Season one champion Nelson Piquet Jr. was 11th, with Felix Rosenqvist, Antonio Felix da Costa – who lost track time with a battery problem in the morning – and Mitch Evans next up.
He was the lead of the two Jaguar cars, with Adam Carroll 17th quickest, behind Robin Frijns and Stephane Sarrazin.
