Daniil Kvyat: ‘Summer break has done good things for me’

Daniil Kvyat claims the summer break has served him well as he seeks to rediscover his passion for Formula 1, after recently admitting he "stopped enjoying it for a while" following his demotion from Red Bull to Toro Rosso.

The Russian driver looked clearly unhappy following the Hungarian Grand Prix and said he would spend the summer trying to "get the enjoyment back and love what [he does] again".

Speaking on Thursday, Kvyat said he enjoyed his time away from the sport and things now feel "OK".

"I think it’s done good things for me," he said. "It feels like it’s all OK now for me – just come here, do my job, drive as I know how to drive, nothing special really. That’s it.

"It was a lovely holiday so it was good. I did a bit of karting but mainly I stayed at home. I didn’t follow what was going on in Formula 1 or anything so it was OK. Very good."

Asked what he believed Toro Rosso could achieve this weekend in Spa, he replied: "It’s hard to predict the future, obviously. So, we’ll get out there, we’ll drive, we’ll use our potential as good as we can, and we’ll see where we are. That’s all I can do."
