Alexander Albon held off his ART Grand Prix team-mate Charles Leclerc to win the first GP3 race of the weekend at Silverstone.
He started from pole position and eked out a comfortable advantage in the early stages, while his closest rivals battled for position further back.
But once Leclerc moved up to second place, he started to close in on Albon and was under a second behind his team-mate with a handful of laps remaining.
However, he couldn’t get close enough to make a move and ultimately ran out of time, finishing 1.6 seconds behind.
Albon clinched his second win in the GP3 series, with Leclerc second after a great start and final part of the race, giving ART GP a 1-2 finish. Albon also takes over the lead of the championship with the result.
Antonio Fuoco made up ground on lap one and held off Matt Parry to complete the podium. Parry made good progress and pulled off some great overtakes to finish fourth.
Nyck de Vries recovered from an early collision with team-mate Nirei Fukuzumi to finish fifth, although he was given a five-place penalty for the contact.
Ralph Boschung made late progress to finish sixth, with Arthur Janosz and Jake Dennis next up. Dennis claimed reverse grid pole for race two after a final lap pass on the struggling Sandy Stuvik.
Arjun Maini completed the top 10 on his GP3 debut, despite a strong starting position. Alex Palou and Fukuzumi were next up, ahead of Jack Aitken, who struggled for Arden.
Matevos Isaakyan raced well within the top 10 before being shown the black and orange flag for a loose wing mirror, causing him to pit.
Jake Hughes also looked set for a strong top five result until his rear wing failed on the run to Copse, causing him to retire in the pits after also being shown the same flag.
