Lewis Hamilton set the pace in second practice for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, while his team-mate Nico Rosberg failed to complete a lap.
Hamilton ended the 90-minute session at the top of the timesheets with a 1m31.660, set in the opening third of FP2 when drivers went for quick laps on the soft tyre.
Teams then switched focus for the final part of second practice to longer runs. Rosberg lost crucial track time after an oil leak and spent the session in the Mercedes garage.
Daniel Ricciardo showed strong speed for Red Bull Racing in second place, four tenths behind Hamilton.
Max Verstappen was third in the second RB12, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen – who was one of several drivers to take to the run-off areas during the session.
Fernando Alonso was seventh, with Valtteri Bottas and Romain Grosjean next up. Jenson Button and Felipe Massa completed the top 10, despite the McLaren driver slowing late on with an issue.
Carlos Sainz Jr. was 11th and Esteban Gutierrez returned to his Haas car to set the 12th best time, after it was driven by GP3 youngster Charles Leclerc in FP1.
Daniil Kvyat struggled during the session, spinning early on and damaging his front wing on a kerb before going across the grass at Chapel.
Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez found themselves down in 15th and 16th for Force India, ahead of Pascal Wehrlein’s Manor and British racer Jolyon Palmer.
Rosberg was down in 22nd having failed to emerge on track to complete a single lap, following the oil leak on his W07.
