British driver Oliver Turvey says he hopes to remain at the NEXTEV team for the third Formula E season.
Turvey debuted in the all-electric series at the 2014/2015 season finale in London, scoring points in both races.
He then went on to compete in his first full campaign in Formula E in 2015/2016, but NEXTEV struggled with a heavier car and finished bottom of the teams’ championship.
Turvey ended this season ahead of team-mate and inaugural Formula E champion Nelson Piquet Jr. in the standings and has been pleased with his season two performance.
He remained coy on negotiations for season three but explained he hopes to remain at NEXTEV, believing the team can make a big step forward in 2016/2017.
“NEXTEV are putting in a big effort in for next season with the whole package of the car,” he told Grand Prix Times.
“There is going to be a big improvement with the team going forward so I think they will have a much stronger package next season.
“Yeah, I am hoping to be with them [NEXTEV]. They gave me my first opportunity in Formula E so hopefully I can continue with them.
“What we have had to do this year to be competitive has improved us as drivers. I feel I have improved a lot through the season.
“The last four or five races have been really good qualifyings. It is just harder in the race and hopefully with the right package I think it will allow us to fight for pole, fight for race wins and hopefully for the championship.”
