Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat has accepted responsibility for causing a collision at the start of the Russian Grand Prix, which led to Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel crashing out of the race after just two corners.
Kvyat hit the rear of Vettel's car heading into Turn 2, causing the Vettel to make contact with the second Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo, but all three escaped without serious damage. However Kvyat made contact with Vettel for a second time just as they entered Turn 3, but this time Vettel span round and ended up in the wall.
It's the second race in a row that Vettel and Kvyat haven't seen eye-to-eye, but this time Kvyat accepted the blame.
"There was a bit going on. In the last moment I didn’t expect him to slow down so much," he explained to Sky Sports. "Then I started to press the brake pedal but there was not much in it because when you lock the rear wheels the car’s a bit out of control. The first contact came from that.
"The second touch I was just behind him and I couldn’t see what was going on ahead and he just slowed down a lot and I just didn’t have time to react unfortunately.
"Obviously all the mess came from me. Of course it doesn’t feel great but sometimes these things happen on lap one. We will learn from it."
When asked if he and Vettel would speak, Kvyat, who served a ten-second penalty for the incident, replied: "Yeah we will talk, it’s all we can really do.
"Of course it’s easy now to attack me and I guess everyone will," he added. "But I’m OK with that."
