Will Power enjoyed his first on-track running since being forced to miss the opening race of the 2016 IndyCar Series season due to illness at Barber Motorsports Park on Tuesday.
Power suffered from nausea in the lead-up to the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 13, and was ruled out of the race after failing the INDYCAR Sports Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT) with symptoms that suggested he had suffered from concussion.
However, after undergoing tests at the University of Miami in the days following the race, Power was found to have shown no definitive signs of concussion, making him eligible to race once again.
Power enjoyed a private test at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, and completed almost 90 laps without any issues.
"It felt good, really good," Power told indycar.com, reporting that returning to the car had been "no problem".
Power added: "It was basically a combination of getting back in the car with the race coming up, too. It all helps out. I know this track like the back of my hand."
Power will make his race return at next weekend's Phoenix Grand Prix.
