Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport’s Lucas di Grassi has been stripped of his Mexico City ePrix victory after his car was found to be underweight.
Formula E cars have a minimum weight of 888kg but di Grassi’s Abt machine was found to be 1.8kg under that figure after the race.
Di Grassi had raced from third to first in the opening half of the Mexico City ePrix, before dominating the second half of the event to win by over 10 seconds.
However, he has now been excluded, with Jerome d’Ambrosio – who lost fastest lap for cutting the chicane – being promoted to the win, just like he was in last year’s Berlin ePrix.
Abt has not appealed the decision. The exclusion now drops di Grassi 22 points behind championship leader Sebastien Buemi, who moves up to second.
Nicolas Prost jumps up to third, while Loic Duval remains fourth despite a 15-second penalty for repeatedly cutting the final corner.
