Prema Racing’s Pierre Gasly ended the final day of the opening GP2 test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya at the top of the timesheets.
The Red Bull junior team driver set his best time of 1:27.386 in the morning session, which took place in sunny but cool conditions in Spain.
He finished over two tenths clear of countryman Norman Nato, who will race for Racing Engineering this year. Antonio Giovinazzi in the second Prema car was third.
Alex Lynn, Luca Ghiotto, Daniel de Jong and Mitch Evans were next up. Nicholas Latifi, Sergey Sirotkin and Jordan King completed the top 10.
The vast majority of drivers set their quickest times in the morning, before long runs took priority in the afternoon. Arthur Pic, Rene Binder, Raffaele Marciello and Gustav Malja were next on the leaderboard.
Oliver Rowland, Sergio Canamasas, testing for Status Grand Prix, Artem Markelov and the recently-confirmed Carlin driver Marvin Kirchhofer followed.
Nobuharu Matsushita, Jimmy Eriksson, Phili Paz Armand, Nabil Jeffri, Sean Gelael and Meindert van Buuren rounded out the results.
Several red flags interrupted running on Friday. Sirotkin spun and beached his ART GP in the gravel in the morning, while Giovinazzi stopped at Turn 4. Small contact between Marciello and Binder and a problem for van Buuren also brought out red flags.
The end of the afternoon session marked the conclusion of the opening GP2 test, one more three-day event set to take place later this month at the Circuito de Jerez.
