Pirelli announces driver tyre choices for Australian Grand Prix

F1 tyre supplier Pirelli has announced the nominations of each driver for the 2016 season opener in Australia.

New rules for this season mean each driver gets 13 sets of tyres per weekend, with Pirelli choosing two compounds for the race and one set of the softest tyre for qualifying.

Drivers then pick which compounds they want for the remaining 10 sets of tyres available to them over the course of a race weekend.

The majority of teams have two drivers with the same tyre nominations, but interestingly Lewis Hamilton has opted for just one set of the medium compound, in favour of an extra set of the yellow-marked soft tyre, unlike his team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Elsewhere the two Manor drivers will have four sets of medium tyres at their disposal, with Rio Haryanto and Pascal Wehrlein then both having four sets of soft tyres and five sets of super-softs.

Meanwhile while the two Haas racers have gone for the maximum number of super-soft tyres available, with Romain Grosjean then opting for five sets of softs and one set of mediums, compared to four sets of softs and two sets of mediums for Esteban Gutierrez.

Here is the full breakdown of the tyre picks, as demonstrated by Pirelli in this handy infographic:
