GP3 race winner Marvin Kirchhofer has confirmed he will drive for Carlin in the GP2 series this season.

The German driver made the announcement on social media, saying on Twitter that signing for Carlin "feels like a dream I always had."

He is the first driver to be confirmed at the British team for the new GP2 season, moving up to the series after two years in GP3.

After winning ADAC Formel Masters in 2012 and claiming the German Formula 3 title in the following year, he moved up to GP3 with ART Grand Prix, finishing third overall with one win and six further podiums.

He remained at the team for 2015 and retained third in the championship, this time winning five races and picking up three other podium trophies.

Now he has confirmed his plans for 2016 and will debut in GP2 at the season opener in Spain from the 14-15 May.

"We had some offers available, but in the end, the offer of Carlin promised us the most," he said.

"The team has been very successful in recent years in GP2 and makes a very professional impression."
