Sam Bird will start the fourth round of the 2015/16 Formula E championship in Buenos Aires from pole position whilst championship leader Sebastien Buemi will start from last after a spin during qualifying.

Not only is the pole Bird's first, but it's also the DS Virgin Racing team's first since joining the series.

Bird, Nicolas Prost, Antonio Felix da Costa, Stephane Sarrazin and Mike Conway made it through to the superpole shoot-out, with Bird coming out on top by more than three-tenths to Renault e.dams' Prost.

Da Costa narrowly missed out on a front-row start by one hundredth of a second and will line up third alongside Sarrazin who, despite qualifying fastest during the group stage, couldn't replicate the same pace later in the session.

Championship leader Buemi made a rare error, spinning at Turn 7 after locking his rear-wheels. The Swiss driver will start last.

Salvador Duran, on his Team Aguri return after replacing Jacque Villeneuve, and Mahindra's Bruno Senna both hit the wall during qualifying just seconds apart, though the incidents weren't connected.

Jean-Eric Vergne, who initially ruled himself out of racing due to food poisoning, took part in the session after a last-minute decision and qualified 15th.
