DS Virgin Racing has confirmed that Jean-Eric Vergne will take part in this weekend's Buenos Aires ePrix despite coming down with food poisoning overnight.
Vergne was at the track on Friday to complete his regular media commitments and shakedown, and appeared to be in good health before coming down with food poisoning overnight.
DS Virgin had previously ruled Vergne out of racing this weekend, as judged by team principal Alex Tai.
"Jean-Eric Vergne has food poisoning still wants to race but Alex Tai has said no given Argentinian heat," a short statement on Twitter read. "More information to follow."
However, Vergne returned to the track for FP2, and despite not taking part in the session completed his preparations and rested up ahead of qualifying.
DS Virgin confirmed to Grand Prix times that Vergne had been medically approved to race by the FIA, and Tai is now happy for him to take part as originally planned.
As a result, the Frenchman will enter qualifying alongside teammate Sam Bird later this afternoon.
