The Haas F1 Team received a major boost on Friday after revealing that its first chassis has completed and passed the mandatory FIA crash tests.
The American-led team took to Twitter to confirm the good news, which now means the team has been given the green-light to take part in the opening pre-season test next month.
“Passed @FIA crash test. Next up: testing @Circuitcat_eng,” was the message posted on Friday.
It is now a requirement that all crash tests are passed before a car is allowed to turn a wheel during testing, therefore it is essential they are passed with plenty of time to make last-minute adjustment if required.
The test took place at the Bollate CSI facility in Milan, not far from Dallara’s base which has been tasked with designing the chassis for Haas.
The opening test of the 2016 season begins in Barcelona on February 22.
