Toro Rosso confirms return to Ferrari power in 2016

Toro Rosso has confirmed it will use Ferrari power units in 2016, ending its short relationship with Renault after just two seasons together.

The Faenza-based team had been without a power unit after sister team Red Bull ended its relationship with Renault. With that deal now back on the table, Toro Rosso has instead chosen to return to Ferrari, rather than stick with Renault.

The team will however use a 2015-spec engine, rather than the latest 2016 engine, which will only be used by Ferrari, Sauber and Haas.

“Scuderia Toro Rosso and Scuderia Ferrari have reached an agreement that will see our team use the current Ferrari Power Unit in the 2016 Formula One season,” read a short statement.
