Nico Rosberg kept Mercedes top in second practice, pipping team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the top spot by just over a tenth. The German was the only man to dip below the 1:42 mark.
Force India continued its strong form with Sergio Perez posting the third quickest lap, six tenths off Rosberg, however it wasn’t all good news as a brake issue developed, forcing him to pit.
Behind Perez, the Red Bulls were split by the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel, with Kimi Raikkonen seventh ahead of the second Force India.
Fernando Alonso gave McLaren some hope, lapping within a second of Rosberg and ending the session in ninth.
