Nico Rosberg took his fifth win of the season in Brazil, controlling the race from start to finish as team-mate Lewis Hamilton failed to find a way throught.
The Briton had been close at times, but never close enough to launch a challenge for the lead as he complained that it was too hard to overtake around the Interlagos circuit.
Rosberg’s victory confirms his position in the championship as runner-up, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel now unable to overtake him with one race remaining.
The Ferrari driver completed the podium and ran a rather lonely race in third, with team-mate Kimi Raikkonen a distant fourth.
Romain Grosjean and Max Verstappen were the big moves in the field, making up several places to complete the final points paying positions in ninth and tenth.
Carlos Sainz managed to start the race despite stopping on his lap to the grid, but retired after just four corners with a reported ‘loss of power’.
