Singapore Grand Prix organisers have modified the layout of the street circuit between corners 11 and 13, in a bid to promote closer racing and more overtaking.

The changes have also been made to tie-in with the city-state’s 50th anniversary of independence, which sees a redevelopment of the area.

The FIA has signed off on the modifications which will see a tighter Turn 11. drivers will then enter the left-lane of the Anderson Bridge, rather than the right in previous years, before entering Turn 13 which has been widened to aid overtaking.

Speaking about the changes, Faithful+Gould senior project manager Jonathan Giesecke, is confident they will aid the racing.

“It is a fantastic challenge to translate changes to Singapore’s Civic District into improvements to the Marina Bay Street Circuit,” he said.

“I expect the modifications from turns 11-13 will enable closer racing and the potential for additional passing opportunities.”
