Lewis Hamilton will start the 2015 British Grand Prix from pole position, putting him third in the all-time pole sitters list with 46, with just Aytron Senna (65) and Michael Schumacher (68) ahead.

The Briton had stiff competition from team-mate Nico Rosberg, but with neither bettering their opening laps of Q3, it was Hamilton’s quicker banker lap which secured him pole.

Rosberg starts in second ahead of the Williams pair which enjoyed one of their best qualifying sessions of the season, beating both Ferraris to second best.

Felipe Massa will start third ahead of Valtteri Bottas, whilst Kimi Raikkonen got the better of Sebastian Vettel to start fifth and sixth.

Vettel’s final lap was hindered by a slow moving Rosberg however, which could see the Mercedes driver penalised by the stewards if they deem he blocked the Ferrari driver.

Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat was just ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr in the Toro Rosso, with the pair separated by just 0.013s in seventh and eighth.

The second Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo was tenth quickest behind Nico Hulkenberg. The former of which had their quickest laps deleted due to running wide and exceeding track limits.

That was also the case for Sergio Perez who lost out on a Q3 spot when he too ran wide and lost his best time. He ended up 11th quickest.
