Force India will debut their B-spec car after the Austrian Grand Prix in late-June after passing the mandatory FIA crash tests on its second attempt last week.

The Silverstone based outfit has been using an interim car since the beginning of the year due to multiple delays, both technically and financially, during ithe development of its 2015 car.

Now it has passed its crash tests, the team plans to introduce it at the Austrian in-season test which follows the race, before giving it its race debut at the British GP.

“We failed the first test, but it was pretty marginal,” explained deputy team principal Bob Fernley to Autosport.

“In the end it was tiny, and although it put us back a week or two, it was pretty clear we would get through the second one.

“There are a lot of elements to it, but it has passed all the tests necessary to go forward.

“We’ll now make it for the test in Austria, and then we will introduce it as a race package for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.”

Drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez have both complained that scoring points in the current car is a difficult task, and both are therefore looking forward to the new package which should put them firmly within the top ten according to the team.
