Lewis Hamilton won his fourth Chinese Grand Prix by controlling the pace at the front to lead from start to finish and extend his championship lead.

The Mercedes driver finished ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel by just a handful of seconds after the race finished behind the Safety Car.

Kimi Raikkonen fought his way through the pack to fourth after passing the two Williams cars on the opening lap. He looked as though he might challenge his team-mate in the closing laps before the race was neutralised with three laps left.

Felipe Massa finished ahead of Valtteri Bottas whilst Romain Grosjean scored his first points for Lotus since the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix.

Felipe Nasr, Daniel Ricciardo and the second Sauber of Marcus Ericsson completed the points paying positions.

Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Pastor Maldonado enjoyed a battle at the back before contact between Button and Maldonado let Alonso through, whilst the Lotus driver retired.

Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen both stopped due to engine failures, with the latter causing the Safety Car to come out after his Toro Rosso ground to a halt on the start/finish straight.
